Let’s Investigate: A Guide to an Engaged Social Studies Classroom (K-12)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This workshop teaches engaging strategies for the social studies classroom.  This workshop re-justifies social studies as a subject that is needed by all students for future success.  This workshop studies the process skills in the TEKS and their relationship to the most desired skills by employers.  What does a social scientist do on the job?  We will investigate this and determine how to make the social studies classroom more similar to that of a social scientist.  What kinds of thinking do teachers ask students to do?  We will investigate thinking and what you and the students think thinking is in the social studies classroom.
Learing Objective:  Teachers will see how integrating social studies skills can support all student success in and beyond the classroom, along with enriching and increasing the rigor of lesson objectives.
